Embedded Systems Engineer (m/f/d)

Exabotix develops advanced UAV systems and ground infrastructure for autonomous flight operations. At the DLR National Test Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems in Cochstedt and at our development site in Bad Lauterberg, we are working on fully autonomous solutions for takeoff, landing, and power supply – the so-called DRONEPORT – as well as on the development of our own UAV systems. Our technologies are used particularly in the area of critical infrastructure, where they make a significant contribution to safety and aerial surveillance.

Become part of our team and design systems that function without human intervention – from development and prototyping to practical testing on the test site.

Your tasks:

• Development and layout of printed circuit boards (PCB) for drone and DRONEPORT components
• Circuit diagram creation, prototyping and testing of electronic components
• Development and adaptation of firmware for microcontrollers (e.g. STM32, ESP32, ARM Cortex)
• Integration of sensors, communication and energy components
• Participation in flight tests and system validation tests at the test site
• Collaboration with other departments in system integration and commissioning

Your profile:

• Completed studies in electrical engineering, mechatronics or comparable
• Sound knowledge of analog/digital circuit technology and PCB design (e.g. Altium, KiCad)
• Experience in embedded programming (C/C++) and firmware development
• Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, UART, I²C, SPI)
• Desirable: Experience with ArduPilot and Pixhawk systems
• Enjoyment of practical tests and deployments in field test operations

We offer:

• Collaboration on an exciting development project in the UAV sector
• Development work in a new, technical team with plenty of creative freedom
• Flexible working hours and modern development environment
• Active participation in test flights and system testing
• Long-term perspective in the growth field of UAV technology
