Exabotix develops modern UAV systems and ground infrastructure for autonomous flight operations. At the DLR National Test Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems in Cochstedt, near Magdeburg, we are working on fully autonomous solutions for takeoff, landing, and power supply – the so-called DRONEPORT – as well as on the development of our own UAV systems. Our technologies are used primarily in the field of critical infrastructure, where they make an important contribution to security and aerial surveillance. The work location is on the DLR premises at Cochstedt Airfield. With us, you will design systems that function without human intervention and support their implementation through to practical testing.
Your tasks:
• Development of software modules for adaptive flight planning and control logic
• Programming of mission planning algorithms based on real-time environmental data
• Interface development between drone, sensors and ground station (DRONEPORT)
• Integration and testing of the software in real and simulation environments
• Support and monitoring of flight tests for parameterization and data analysis
• Close cooperation with the developers involved
Your profile:
• Studies in computer science, robotics, aeronautical systems engineering or a related field
• Very good knowledge of C++ and Python
• Experience in developing control software or autonomous systems
• Knowledge of communication protocols (MAVLink, CAN, TCP/IP)
• Desirable: Experience with ArduPilot, especially adapting flight control logic and mission planning on Pixhawk controllers
• Interest in practical testing and direct feedback from software developments in the field
We offer:
• Working with the latest drone technology and real-time systems
• Active participation in a future-oriented development project
• Participation in flight tests and system validations
• Development work with great creative freedom
• Possibility of partial home office work depending on the area of responsibility and project phase
• We provide training to become a drone pilot in accordance with the EU competency certificate STS-02
